The District Head of Dambatta and Sarkin Ban Kano, Dr. Mansur Mukhtar Adnan, has identified communal participation, tolerance, and dedication as critical drivers of societal development.
He made the remark during a reception organized in honour of Professor Kabiru Abdussalam following his elevation to professorial rank and appointment as Chief Consultant Chemical Pathologist by the Senate of Bayero University, Kano (BUK).
Represented by Alhaji Baba Ado, the district head emphasized the importance of mutual respect, unity, and cooperation among community members, noting that societal challenges could only be overcome through collective efforts.
He commended the people of Yanbanga, Dambatta, for organizing the reception in honour of Professor Abdussalam, who hails from the area, and urged them to sustain the spirit of unity and recognition.
In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano, Professor Haruna Musa, described Professor Abdussalam as one of the institution’s outstanding scholars who distinguished himself through excellence in research and academics.
He said the university conferred the professorial rank and Chief Consultant position in Chemical Pathology on him in recognition of his contributions to medical research and academic advancement.
Professor Musa urged the celebrant to sustain his commitment to research and academic breakthroughs, while also commending the Yanbanga community for honouring one of their own.
Also speaking, the District Head of Makoda, Architect Ali Mukhtar, praised Professor Abdussalam for his humanitarian contributions and support to community development, urging him to remain steadfast in serving humanity.
Similarly, former Chairman of Dambatta Local Government, Alhaji Musa Alhassan, said the reception was organized to motivate the professor and encourage others to emulate his achievements. He described the event as historic and commended dignitaries for their presence.
Other speakers at the event included Dr. Musa Gambo Takai of the Federal Teaching Hospital Katsina, Professor Abdullahi Hamisu, Associate Professor Zainab Uba Ibrahim, Dr. Suraj Kasimu, and Professor Aminu Bukar of Bayero University, Kano, who all praised Professor Abdussalam for his dedication and service to humanity.
In his response, Professor Kabiru Abdussalam expressed appreciation to the district head, traditional leaders, the Vice Chancellor, and other dignitaries for the honour bestowed on him. He described the recognition as a motivation to continue contributing to academic excellence and community development.
The event, which attracted academics, medical professionals, traditional leaders, and community members, also featured presentation of gifts by relatives, friends, and well-wishers in recognition of Professor Abdussalam’s achievements and contributions.
The Yanbanga clan, known for its strong heritage and presence across several local government areas, was widely commended for celebrating excellence and promoting community pride.
