The 15th Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, has announced the cancellation of the traditional Eid-el-Fitr Durbar celebration in Kano due to security concerns.
The Emir made the announcement during a press briefing at his Nasarawa Mini palace in Kano, stating that the peaceful coexistence of the people is more important than the celebration.

According to Alhaji Bayero, respected Islamic clerics, elders, stakeholders, and his council members advised him to cancel the celebration in the interest of peace.

Instead, the Emir urged the people of Kano to use the period of Sallah celebration to visit families and friends, and to witness the Sallah celebration in a peaceful and harmonious atmosphere.
He also prayed for Allah’s blessings and mercy during the month of Ramadan, hoping that the people of Kano would be among those who receive forgiveness and mercy.
