Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has conducted his maiden operational visit to the Headquarters of Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Zamfara State, reinforcing the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening frontline military operations.
The Defence Minister was received by the Theatre Commander, Major General WB Idris, alongside senior military officers overseeing security operations across the North-West region.
The visit followed the commissioning of Armoured Personnel Carriers and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles procured by the Zamfara State Government to boost operational effectiveness.
The newly acquired platforms are expected to significantly enhance troop mobility, intelligence gathering, surveillance, reconnaissance, and rapid response capabilities against armed groups operating in the region.
Gen. Musa commended the troops for their dedication, resilience, and professionalism in the face of ongoing security challenges, assuring them of the Federal Government’s continued support through the provision of modern combat equipment and operational resources.
He emphasized that strengthening military capacity remains a top priority under the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, particularly in addressing security threats across vulnerable regions.
In his remarks, Major General Idris expressed appreciation for the sustained support from both federal and state governments, noting that the deployment of the new military assets would accelerate ongoing efforts to restore peace, stability, and security in Zamfara State and the wider North-West zone.
The operational visit underscores renewed collaboration between federal and state authorities aimed at enhancing national security and safeguarding communities affected by armed violence.
