Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has charged police officers in the state and across the country to uphold professionalism, discipline, and dedication in the discharge of their constitutional responsibilities.
The governor gave the charge during a grand send-forth ceremony organized in honour of the outgoing Commissioner of Police in Kebbi State, CP Bello Sani, held at the Police Command Headquarters in Birnin Kebbi.
Represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security, Alhaji Halilu Aliyu Wasagu, Governor Idris commended CP Bello Sani for his exemplary service, describing his tenure as one marked by professionalism, commitment, and impactful contributions to security and community policing in the state.
According to the governor, the outgoing police commissioner demonstrated strong leadership and collaboration with stakeholders, which significantly enhanced peace, public safety, and trust between the police and residents of Kebbi State.
In his remarks, CP Bello Sani expressed gratitude to Almighty God, the Federal Government, the Police Service Commission, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the opportunity to serve the nation.
He also appreciated the Kebbi State Government under Governor Nasir Idris for its unwavering support, noting that the administration’s commitment to security reforms and provision of critical infrastructure greatly improved effective policing and strengthened community confidence in the police.
The retiring commissioner further thanked officers and men of the Kebbi State Police Command, sister security agencies, traditional rulers, and other stakeholders for their cooperation throughout his tenure. He offered prayers for forgiveness for any shortcomings and paid tribute to colleagues who lost their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony featured goodwill messages, tributes, presentation of plaques, and a farewell address in honour of CP Bello Sani, who expressed appreciation to the government, the Nigeria Police Force, and the people of Kebbi State for their support during his service.
