The Kano State Government, in collaboration with Federal Government and development partners, will host the 2025 World Nutrition Day celebration on October 16. The event is being organized as part of efforts to promote healthy eating habits and improve public awareness on nutrition.
This was disclosed by the Kano State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Alhaji Musa Hassan Shanono.
He said the celebration aligns with the United Nations’ annual observance of World Nutrition Day.

Alhaji Shanono explained that the aim of the celebration is to enlighten the public about the importance of consuming nutritious food. He emphasized that good nutrition plays a critical role in promoting overall health and preventing diseases.
The commissioner noted that this year’s event will provide an opportunity for stakeholders, including farmers, nutrition experts, and the business community, to engage in dialogue on ways to better utilize local food resources.
He maintained that many communities in Kano and across Nigeria have access to a variety of nutritious foods, but lack of knowledge and awareness often hinders their proper use.

The event will focus on educating people on how to incorporate these foods into their daily diets.
As part of the celebration, a special exhibition will be held to showcase different nutritional products and food items. According to Alhaji Shanono, this will help participants understand the health benefits of various nutrients and how they contribute to human development.
He reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s commitment to improving nutrition and public health, and called on the public, particularly families and youth, to participate actively in the celebration.
