The Assembly, with the support of Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, initiated the renovation of the Assembly Complex, which had fallen into disrepair. Work has reached over 75 percent completion and is expected to be inaugurated in early 2026.

    Retreats and Special Engagements

In 2025, the Assembly held a legislative retreat themed “The Role of the State Legislature in the Review of the Constitution and Effective Oversight Functions of MDAs.” On the sidelines, development partners including Katchima, PHCN, and LISDEL engaged Honourable Members on maternal mortality reduction.

    Loss of Lawmakers and Condolences

Despite these successes, the year was marred by the loss of two prominent lawmakers: Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Alhaji Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo, and Chairman, Committee on Hajj Affairs, Alhaji Sarki Aliyu Daneji.

Their deaths sent shockwaves across the Assembly. Ungogo passed away shortly after participating in the 2026 budget public hearing.

The Assembly extended heartfelt condolences to their families, constituencies, the government, and the people of Kano State.

It also joined millions of Nigerians in mourning the demise of philanthropist Aminu Alhassan Dantata, former President Muhammadu Buhari, members of the Kano contingent at the National Sports Festival, Alhaji Abbass Sunusi, Alhaji Haruna Danzago, and victims of the Edo State killings.

The Assembly expressed deep sadness at the loss of such irreplaceable and iconic figures.
