The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, has extended heartfelt congratulations to His Excellency Lejone Mpotjoane, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Relations of the Kingdom of Lesotho, as the nation marks its Independence Anniversary.
Ambassador Tuggar, on behalf of the Government and people of Nigeria, joined the Basotho nation in celebrating this momentous occasion, commending the country’s achievements since independence.

He noted that Lesotho’s steady progress in democratic governance, social development, and cultural preservation reflects the resilience, unity, and determination of its people and leadership.
“Nigeria shares in the joy of this historic day, which symbolizes the strength and aspirations of the Basotho people,” Ambassador Tuggar said.
The Minister emphasized that relations between Nigeria and Lesotho are founded on mutual respect, African solidarity, and a shared vision for continental peace and prosperity.
Both nations, he added, continue to engage productively through multilateral and regional platforms — including the African Union (AU) and other institutions — to advance stability, cooperation, and development across the continent.

Ambassador Tuggar reaffirmed Nigeria’s readiness to deepen bilateral cooperation with the Kingdom of Lesotho in key sectors such as education, trade, governance, and regional integration.
“Nigeria remains committed to working closely with the Government and people of Lesotho to strengthen ties that promote growth, peace, and sustainable development,” he stated.
He expressed optimism that the enduring friendship between the two countries would continue to thrive, fostering shared progress and reinforcing unity across Africa.
