Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has conferred the title of Justice of the Peace (JP) on the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Ondo/Ekiti Area Command, Comptroller Queen Obazee.
The honour was bestowed during a formal investiture ceremony held in Akure.
According to a statement issued, by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Assistant Superintendent of Customs II Nzubechi Iheagwaram, the ceremony attracted heads of government parastatals, agencies, and other senior public officials, reflecting the state government’s commitment to recognising integrity and excellence in public service.
Speaking at the event, Governor Aiyedatiwa said the title of Justice of the Peace is reserved for individuals of proven character and outstanding service to society. He noted that the honour is not merely ceremonial but a recognition of integrity, discipline, and commitment to justice.
“This honour is bestowed on citizens whose service record and conduct have earned the trust of the state and its people,” the governor said, adding that recipients are expected to contribute to peace-building and good governance within the state’s socio-judicial framework.
The statement explained that the investiture marked the formal commissioning of the recipients as Justices of the Peace, following a rigorous selection process guided by professionalism, discipline, and dedication to public service.
Comptroller Obazee was among those honoured in recognition of her exemplary leadership and contributions to effective Customs administration in the Ondo/Ekiti Area Command.
Reacting to the honour, Comptroller Obazee expressed appreciation to the Ondo State Government, describing the conferment as a call to greater responsibility.
“I am deeply honoured by this recognition. It strengthens my resolve to continue serving with integrity, fairness, and commitment to justice,” she said, dedicating the honour to officers and men of the Command for their continued support.
The statement added that the investiture of new Justices of the Peace is expected to strengthen peace maintenance and governance structures in Ondo State, with the honourees charged to uphold the rule of law and promote justice, public service, and inter-agency collaboration in the interest of sustainable development and stability in the state.
