The Theatre Commander, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, has reaffirmed the theatre’s unwavering support for the Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) in strengthening security and advancing academic collaboration.
He gave the assurance when the Vice-Chancellor of NAUB, Professor Lawal Bala Buratai, paid a courtesy visit to the OPHK Headquarters in Maiduguri.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Acting Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Military), Colonel Yusuf Bello, and the Commanding Officer, Administrative Battalion NAUB, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Musa.
Speaking during the visit, Professor Buratai said the engagement was aimed at familiarising with the Theatre Command and exploring avenues for enhanced academic and security partnerships.
He expressed deep appreciation to the Theatre Commander for the warm reception and commended the personnel of OPHK for their sacrifices, resilience, and sustained efforts in tackling insecurity across Borno State and the wider North East.

The Vice-Chancellor, who described the visit as “long overdue,” highlighted the university’s specialised academic programmes, including Engineering, Cybersecurity, and Security Management, and encouraged OPHK officers and personnel to take advantage of these programmes to enhance professional capacity.
In his remarks, Major General Abubakar welcomed the NAUB delegation and emphasised the importance of education in national development.
He described NAUB as the “flagship university of the Nigerian Armed Forces” and stressed that the institution remains a strategic asset to the theatre.
He assured the university community of OPHK’s continued support and expressed readiness to leverage the proposed academic opportunities to boost operational and administrative efficiency within the command.
