The executive director,  Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices YOSPIS Zainab Nasir has urged youths to shun violence and avoid criminal activities during and after the Eid-ul-fitr celebration.

In a statement signed by the communication officer YOSPIS Hannatu Suleiman Abba and made available to newsmen.

YOSPIS acknowledges Kano State’s reputation as one of the safest states in Northern Nigeria, with fewer reported crimes, attributing the achievement  to a friendly football match held in August 2023 between YOSPIS, the police, and Kano’s reformed youth group, known as “Yan Daba.”

The statement pointed out that, as a youth-led organization, YOSPIS prioritizes a peaceful and productive environment for Kano youths by organizing activities to foster positive relationships between young people and security agencies.

She said currently, YOSPIS is actively engaged in enlightening and mitigating topical youth challenges through the weekly radio program, “HASKEN MATASA,” reaching millions on radio and social media platforms.

The executive director commends Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Husaini Gumel, for his swift action by using  community policing approach to tackle thuggery in Dorayi Quarters and across the state.

Zainab seized the opportunity to appeal to  Kano State Governor, Engineer Abba Kabir Yusuf, to fulfil his promises made to Kano’s repentant thugs, saying that continued support for them is crucial for lasting reform.
