The Emir of Zazzau,Amb. Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, has conferred the revered traditional title of Sarkin Yakin Zazzau on Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Jibril, FCILT, elevating him to the rank of a Permanent Member of the Emirate Council and Kingmaker.
The turbaning ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 3rd, at the historic Emir’s Palace in Zaria, a venue synonymous with the rich cultural heritage of the Zazzau Emirate.
Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar Jibril, a retired Director of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency NIMASA, boasts an illustrious career spanning over 45 years in the maritime, logistics, and administrative sectors.
He previously served as President of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport Nigeria and rose to the position of International Vice President, reflecting his global influence in the field.

A licensed aircraft engineer by training, Jibril holds advanced academic qualifications, including a Master’s Degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University.
His multidisciplinary expertise has seen him contribute significantly to both aviation and maritime development in Nigeria.
Throughout his career, he played a vital role in national pest control initiatives, operating helicopters in collaboration with the Federal Government to combat agricultural threats such as quelea birds, grasshoppers, and tsetse flies.
His contributions extended into logistics and transport, where he championed the professionalization of the sector and coordinated multimodal transport training across the country.
As a maritime administrator, Jibril was instrumental in advancing reforms within Nigeria’s seaports and strengthening maritime labour systems.

He contributed to the training of thousands of seafarers under the Nigerian Seafarers Development Programme and supported key infrastructure initiatives, including ship repair yards and floating dock facilities.
In the area of human resource development, he led efforts to establish competitive salary structures within maritime institutions, helping to attract and retain skilled professionals in agencies such as the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Oron.
A Fellow of several professional bodies, including the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and the Nigerian Institute of Management, Jibril has also participated in international engagements, including governing board meetings of the International Labour Organization.
Beyond his professional achievements, he remains a strong advocate for community development.
He currently serves as Secretary/Coordinator and CEO of the Zazzau Emirate Community Advancement Foundation (ZECAF), contributing to grassroots development initiatives within the emirate.
Before his elevation, he held the traditional title of Magayakin Zazzau for a decade, demonstrating longstanding service and commitment to the emirate.
Alhaji Jibril is described as an avid reader who enjoys walking and horse riding. He is married with children.
The conferment of the Sarkin Yakin Zazzau title is widely seen as a recognition of his decades of service, leadership, and dedication to national development and the Zazzau Emirate.
