Katsina State security agencies have successfully rescued 21 kidnapped individuals and arrested four suspects during a coordinated operation in the Dargaza Hills, Danmusa Local Government Area.
The operation, led by the Department of State Services (DSS) in collaboration with the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force, and Community Watch Corps, was intelligence-driven and targeted the hideout of a notorious bandit leader, Kamilu Chiroma, also known as Buzaru.
Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasir Mua’zu, stated on Saturday that the rescued victims include 16 women, two men, and three babies. The victims were abducted from Gidan Sarkin Bayero Village in Musawa Local Government Area and other locations.
“Twenty of the victims are Christians, while two are Muslims. This shows that bandits attack people without considering religion, and the government is committed to protecting all citizens,” Mua’zu said.
The four suspects are currently under investigation as security forces continue operations in the area to dismantle bandit networks and prevent further attacks.
The Katsina State government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and intensifying efforts against criminal activities in the state.
