Bayero University Kano has inducted 149 newly qualified medical professionals—131 medical doctors and 18 dentists—at its 10th Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and 24th Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) induction ceremony.
The event took place on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, at the Convocation Arena of the university’s New Campus.
Administering the oath, the Registrar and Chief Executive of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Fatima Kyari, congratulated the inductees for successfully navigating the rigorous academic and clinical training required in the medical field.
She urged them to uphold the ethics and standards of their professions, stressing that the integrity of their licences must be protected at all times.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Haruna Musa, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Development), Amina Mustapha, described the ceremony as a significant milestone for the graduates and their families. She encouraged the new doctors to uphold the values of the institution and represent the university with distinction.
She also commended the Faculties of Clinical Sciences and Dentistry for producing graduates “worthy in character and learning.”
In the awards category, Ismail Abubakar Muhammad emerged as the overall best graduating student in MBBS, having earlier clinched top prizes in Biochemistry, Medicine, and Surgery.
In Dentistry, Fatima Ibrahim Hafizu was named overall best graduating student, following her outstanding performance in Restorative Dentistry, Preventive Dentistry, Oral Diagnosis Sciences, and Child Dental Health.
