The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Kano Strategic Command has recorded another major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking with the successful destruction of 12.2 tons of narcotics, psychotropic, and other dangerous chemical substances.
Speaking during the public destruction of the exhibits in Kano,Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, commended the NDLEA, its partner agencies, Civil Society Organisations, and sister security agencies for the milestone achievement.
Represrnted by the Secretary to the state government Umar Faruq, Governor Yusuf described the seizure as a clear demonstration of the agency’s renewed vigour and professionalism.
He assured the Command of his administration’s continued and unwavering support to rid Kano State of drug abuse and trafficking.
He pointed out that, the Kano State Government will not relent in its efforts until the state is declared completely free of drug abuse.
The SSG stressed that protecting the youth and safeguarding public health remains a top priority for the present administration.
Earlier in his remarks, the NDLEA State Commander, Dahir Lawal Yahaya, assured residents of his Command’s readiness to make Kano and its environs free of illicit drugs.
He emphasized that the war against drug abuse cannot be won by NDLEA alone, but requires a collective effort from government, security agencies, religious leaders, traditional institutions, CSOs, NGOs, and the media.
The Commander called on parents, community leaders, and stakeholders to remain vigilant and support NDLEA’s sensitization and enforcement activities across the state.
The event was attended by heads and representatives of security agencies, Civil Society Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations, relevant stakeholders, and members of the media.
