The Ibrahim Dabo Centre for Entrepreneurship and Community Development (ICECD) has awarded a full scholarship and educational support package to Haruna Hamza, a medical student of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, in recognition of his exceptional academic performance and inspiring journey.
Haruna, a native of Zaria, previously earned a living as a bread seller before sitting for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). His outstanding performance secured him admission to study Medicine at Ahmadu Bello University, where he went on to achieve a perfect 5.00 cumulative grade point average (CGPA) in his first academic year.
Moved by his resilience and academic excellence, the Board of ICECD, chaired by Hon. Suleiman Ibrahim Dabo, Wakilin Birnin Zazzau, convened an emergency meeting to consider ways of supporting the student.
Following its deliberations, the Board approved a comprehensive support package, including a full scholarship covering his tuition and school fees until graduation, a brand-new laptop to support his studies, and an annual stipend of ₦250,000 for educational materials and upkeep.
The scholarship package was presented at the Centre’s office by Hon. Suleiman Ibrahim Dabo, alongside the Co-Chairman, Professor Aliyu Ibrahim Kari, the Managing Director, Ahmad Musa Ahmad, and other officials of the Centre.
Speaking during the presentation, Hon. Dabo prayed for Haruna’s continued success and encouraged well-meaning Nigerians to support brilliant but financially disadvantaged students to enable them realise their full potential.
