Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has paid condolence visits to the families of the late former Minister of Finance, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, and the late former Deputy Governor of Kebbi State, Alhaji Ibrahim Khalid Aliyu, following their passing.
Governor Idris first visited the residence of the late former Deputy Governor at Gawon Nama in Sokoto, where he expressed sympathy to the bereaved family and prayed to Almighty Allah to grant the deceased eternal rest and give his family the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
The late Ibrahim Khalid Aliyu served as Deputy Governor of Kebbi State during the administration of former Governor Saidu Usman Dakingari. He died at the age of 81 and is survived by his wife and ten children.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Alhaji Sani Mai Kaset expressed appreciation to Governor Idris and members of his entourage for the condolence visit and the prayers offered for the deceased.
The Governor also visited the residence of the late former Minister of Finance and Sardaunan Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, to sympathize with his family over the loss of the elder statesman.
Governor Idris described the late Abubakar Alhaji as a humble, pious, patriotic, and highly respected leader whose immense contributions to Nigeria’s development would remain indelible. He said the late Sardauna’s legacy transcended Northern Nigeria, leaving a lasting impact across the country and the African continent.
Responding on behalf of the family, the Dan Majen Sokoto, Alhaji Abubakar Dasuki, thanked Governor Idris for the visit and described the late Sardauna as a national icon whose death was a significant loss to Nigeria and the international community, given his outstanding record of public service.
