The rescue of 176 residents of Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State has been described as further evidence of the Federal Government’s determination to tackle insecurity across the country.
The residents, who were abducted on February 3, regained their freedom after spending nearly six months in captivity following a rescue operation by the Nigerian military.
The Kwara State Government announced the development on Wednesday through its official Facebook page, describing the rescue as a major breakthrough. It also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, security agencies, and all those involved in the successful operation.
Reacting to the development, the Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, Musa Illiyasu Kwankwaso, urged Nigerians, particularly members of the opposition, to acknowledge government successes in addressing the country’s security challenges.
Kwankwaso praised President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, the Ministers of Defence, and the Service Chiefs for their roles in securing the release of the abducted residents.
He said the successful rescue demonstrates that ongoing efforts by the Federal Government are yielding results and expressed optimism that insecurity would eventually be overcome.
According to him, the President’s commitment to improving security has been recognized by many Nigerians, especially in the North, adding that supporters of the administration would demonstrate their backing through democratic participation.
Kwankwaso also urged citizens to continue supporting security agencies and government initiatives aimed at restoring lasting peace and stability across the country.
