A 45-year-old man, Musa Wada, who was arrested in connection with the gruesome killing of his pupil, said he mutilated him in an attempt to cover his shame.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the suspect, a Quranic teacher from Jikas-Dabaja village, was apprehended on March 13, 2025, following a tip-off.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Wada allegedly punished Bashir Adamu for repeatedly missing school. During the punishment, the boy lost consciousness and later died.
In a bid to mislead the public, Wada reportedly mutilated the corpse, severing the victim’s head and genital organs before disposing of the remains by the roadside. He then buried the severed body parts on his farmland.

The horrific discovery was first reported to the Gwaram Divisional Police Headquarters on March 12, 2025, when residents found a decomposing, beheaded body abandoned along the Jikas-Dabaja village road. Further investigation led to the identification of the victim as one of Wada’s students.
The suspect has since confessed to the crime and remains in police custody.
State police command assured the public that he will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
