Nigerian scholar Dr. Mubarak Mahmud has developed an innovative method for measuring tree heights, known as the Mahmud Method.

This approach uses photography and mathematical principles to calculate tree heights with high accuracy.

Key Features of the Mahmud Method

    Ad 4

Low-Cost: The method is affordable and accessible, unlike traditional methods that require expensive equipment.

High Accuracy: The method has a correlation of 0.998 with actual heights, making it as accurate as more expensive machinery.

Easy to Use: The method reduces human error and doesn’t require specialized training.

    Applications of the Mahmud Method

Forestry Research: Enables researchers to conduct precise measurements with minimal equipment.

Conservation Strategies: Helps conservationists monitor deforestation and tree growth.

Climate Change Analysis: Assists in estimating tree biomass and carbon sequestration.

    M-Tree App

Dr. Mahmud has also developed a mobile app called M-Tree, which simplifies the measurement process using smartphone cameras. The app features:

Hakeem Subair: A Trailblazer in Education and Innovation

Automated Height Calculation: Calculates tree height with a single photo.

GPS Integration: Geo-tags and maps measured trees for future reference.

Data Synchronization: Uploads tree data to a global database for research purposes.

Carbon Stock Estimation: Estimates tree biomass and carbon sequestration for climate change analysis.

The Mahmud Method has received recognition from prominent institutions, including Nigeria’s Federal Ministry of Education and the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology.

The founder Maryam Abacha American university , Professor Gwarzo also congratulated Mahmud for achieving the feat by revolutionizing forestry science with innovative tree height measurement methods using photography.

He noted that Mahmud deserves to be celebrated for his contributions to forestry science which underscores the importance of international collaboration in driving scientific innovation.

“On behalf of MAAUN Group of Universities, I wish to felicitate with you on this milestone and wish you God’s guidance in all your future endeavors,” Prof. Gwarzo.

Prof. Gwarzo, who doubles as President of Association of African Private Universities (AAPU), reaffirmed MAAUN’s commitment to advancing the cause of scientific research for the development of Nigeria and African continent at large

In addition to that, the Universite Paris-Saclay also commended Mahmud for the ground breaking innovation.

In a later dated 21st February 2925, The thesis director of the universite Dr.Laure Barthes wrote a letter to the federal ministry of education, Kano state ministry Pharmacist f education and the Aliko Dangote university of science and technology Wudil.

“ Mubarak Mahmud a Nigerian PhD from Universite Paris-Saclay has developed a unique method of tree height using photography. Based on the mathematical Thales theorem.Mahmud method has achieved a bear perfect correlation (0.998) with true values and has just been published in smart Agricultural Technology. This method will be integrated in the forestry teaching curricula of some institutions”

“An android application using the Mahmud Method has been developed, with new plans to integrate advanced AI technology. These achievements will be celebrated on 39th April 2925 at the universite Paris-Saclay…”

“This accomplishment affirms the excellence of Nigerian scholars and the power of international collaboration”

“We extend our heartfelt congratulations to France and Nigeria for fostering an environment that enabled scientific innovation and outstanding achievements”

This innovation has the potential to transform forestry practices globally, especially in developing nations where access to expensive equipment is limited
