Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umar Radda, has declared that banditry in Nigeria cannot be eradicated unless the informants and collaborators who aid bandits are identified and eliminated.

Speaking during a special prayer session organized in his honour by Muslim clerics to mark his second anniversary in office.

Governor Radda revealed that 70 percent of bandits’ informants and collaborators live within towns and villages.

“These informants and collaborators are fueling the insurgency by supplying food, hard drugs, petrol, selling rustled animals for bandits, and moving essential items from the forests into the towns,” he said.

Governor Radda emphasized that addressing the insecurity challenge requires a collective effort, urging religious and political leaders, alongside all citizens, to work together and offer frequent prayers for peace in the state and the country at large.

“Government alone cannot win this fight,” he stressed. “We need the support of everyone to defeat banditry and restore lasting peace.”

The governor also noted that leadership is a trust and pledged to uphold the confidence placed in him by the people.

He expressed concern about parental neglect, pointing out that some parents fail to properly train their children, leaving them at the mercy of society.

“These children often grow up to become criminals because of poor parental upbringing,” he warned, urging parents to instill strong moral values in their children.

Earlier, the Chief of Staff, Malam Abdulkadir Mamman Nasir, who chaired the event, praised Governor Radda for fulfilling 75 percent of his electioneering promises. He explained that the clerics organized the prayers to seek divine support for the governor’s success in office.

The event featured Qur’anic recitations and prayers offered by prominent Ulamas from across the state.
