Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence in recognition of his outstanding contributions to youth and sports development in Nigeria.
The award was presented by the Organising Committee of the Gusau/Ahlan Pre-season Tournament held in Nassarawa State.

Governor Radda was represented at the event by Abubakar Sani, Director General of the Dikko Sports Movement, who received the plaque on his behalf.
According to the organisers, the recognition was conferred on Governor Radda for his “meritorious contributions to sports development and commitment to football as a tool for building the future.”

They particularly applauded his foresight in hosting the national U20 men’s team in Katsina for a training camp ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt, where the Flying Eagles went on to win the bronze medal.
Speaking at the ceremony, Jigawa State Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Sabo Abdullahi Dutse, said the award was well-deserved, stressing that Governor Radda’s dedication to sports had made it “compulsory” for the committee to honour him.
“Your dedication to sports development has not gone unnoticed, and we look forward to continuing to work together to promote football in Nigeria,” Dutse stated.
The event also recognised the Governor of Nassarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, while the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau, attended as guest of honour.
Now in its fourth edition, the Gusau/Ahlan Pre-season Tournament continues to celebrate individuals and leaders whose efforts are shaping the future of Nigerian football.
