In commemoration of World Humanitarian Day 2025, the Aminu Magashi Garba Foundation (AMG Foundation) is pleased to announce its support for establishing the Kano State Humanitarian Interventions Trust Fund in collaboration with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.
The foundation is committed to supporting a proposed one-day technical workshop to discuss the need for and benefits of the trust fund.
The trust fund aims to foster innovative partnerships and financing for humanitarian response, disaster management, and rapid response initiatives.
Furthermore, the AMG Foundation will support legislative advocacy efforts, including the development of a draft bill to establish the trust fund.

These commitments align with the foundation’s support of N25 million in the category of capital receipt of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation 2025 approved budget.
The funds will be used to support capacity building, technical assistance and advocacy.
Dr. Magashi stated, “On this day, with the theme ‘Strengthening Global Solidarity and Empowering Local Communities’, I identify with the yearning of Kano citizens to have an innovative trust fund that will address the numerous humanitarian challenges in the state.

I also congratulate the Kano State government under the able leadership of His Excellency, Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Executive Governor of Kano State, for taking the bold step to establish the Kano State Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.”
Dr. Magashi further commended the Kano State House of Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Jibril Isma’il Falgore for establishing the State Assembly Committee on Humanitarian Affairs, chaired by Honourable Sule Lawan Shuwaki.
He noted that the AMG Foundation had written to the House and advocated for the committee’s establishment on October 3, 2024.
World Humanitarian Day is observed annually on August 19 to honour the selfless dedication of aid workers who risk their lives in crisis zones and recognise the millions of people in urgent need of assistance.
This year’s theme highlights the importance of cooperation between global humanitarian agencies and grassroots responders.
