    Jigawa First Lady Rallies Parents for Measles-Rubella Vaccination

    First lady of Jigawa state, Hajiya Hadiza Umar on Namadi, has urged parents and caregivers to present their eligible children for the ongoing measles and Rubella vaccination.

    She made the call in her keynote address at officially flagged off the Integrated Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign at Gantsa town, Buji Local Government Area.

    Jigawa to Vaccinate 3.1 Children in Measles, Rubella Campaign

    She emphasised the risks of vaccine-preventable diseases, particularly rubella, and the importance of immunisation in protecting children’s health.

    The First Lady symbolically administered the Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) to a child, marking the official commencement of the campaign and demonstrating her commitment to child health and welfare.

    Earlier, the state commissioner of Health, represented by the Executive Secretary of Jigawa State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (JSPHCDA), Dr Shehu Sambo, said the Integrated Measles-Rubella Vaccination Campaign targets over three million (3,000,000) children aged 0–14 years across the 27 Local Government Areas of Jigawa State.

    He said the exercise commenced on Monday, 6th October 2025, and will run for ten days, ending on Wednesday, 15th October 2025.

    He commended the State Government under His Excellency Malam Umar A. Namadi, development partners for their dedication and continuous support towards improving public health.

    In his welcome address, Hon. Najibullah Falalu, the Executive Chairman of Buji LGA, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to quality healthcare delivery and urged parents to support the campaign by ensuring their children receive the vaccines.
