The Vulnerable People Support and Development Initiative (V-PeSDI), in partnership with humanitarian advocate who doubles as Chairman of the AMG Foundation, Dr Aminu Magashi Garba, has flagged off the 2026 Ramadan bread distribution programme aimed at supporting vulnerable homes and individuals in Kano State.
The initiative targets key beneficiary institutions, including the Kwalli VVF Centre, Remand Home Goron Dutse, and the Women’s Organisation for Relief and Empowerment (WORE), as part of efforts to provide food support during the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, Dr Magashi said the programme marks five consecutive years of Ramadan bread distribution to vulnerable populations.
He added that V-PeSDI is coordinating the exercise for the second year, ensuring that the bread reaches deserving beneficiaries efficiently.
Dr Magashi explained that WORE was newly included in this year’s programme to support survivors of gender-based and domestic violence.
According to him, the decision followed reports of increasing numbers of vulnerable and low-income individuals seeking assistance from the organisation.
In her remarks, Hajiya Maryam Lamido Sanusi, founder and acting president of WORE, expressed gratitude for the support, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.
She commended Dr Magashi for his sustained humanitarian efforts and dedication to improving the welfare of vulnerable communities across the state.
Among those present at the flag-off ceremony were Aftahana Dahiru Sarina, Acting Coordinator of V-PeSDI Zainab Nasir Ahmad, Executive Director of the Youth Society for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases and Social Vices (YOSPIS) Nafisa Ibrahim Shehu, Executive Administrator of Citizen Health Research (CHR), and Mallam Salisu Yusuf of AMMKaS.

Others are Malam Sulaiman Jalo, Director of Operations at the AMG Foundation; Salisu Muhammad of AHBN); Sani Muhammad Fagge, Board Chair of V-PeSDI; Aqibu Hamisu, Executive Director of the Resource Management for Accountability and Development Centre; and Mubarak Baba Ahmad, Technical Assistant at YOSPIS.
Other dignitaries included Dr Maryam Nasir Aliyu, Chairperson and Executive Director of the Women’s Organisation for Relief and Empowerment (WORE), as well as Hajj. Fatima Bello Maitama (Bangon Sharada), Chairperson of the Bango Charity Organisation.
Shortly after the flag off, the delegation proceeded to the Kwalli VVF Centre and Remand Home Goron Dutse to formally begin the bread distribution exercise.
Organisers said the Ramadan bread distribution initiative reflects a continued commitment to supporting vulnerable populations while strengthening partnerships that promote compassion, dignity, and social inclusion during the holy season.
