The Katsina State Ministry of Environment and the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes (ACReSAL) Project have defended their proposed 2027 budget estimates before the Katsina State House of Assembly.
The Commissioner overseeing the Ministry of Environment, Prof. Al’amin Muhammad, led officials of the ministry and its agencies during the budget defence, where they presented their proposed estimates and outlined key programmes and activities planned for the 2027 fiscal year.

The Katsina ACReSAL Project Coordinator, Alhaji Nafiu Mohammed Musa, also appeared before the relevant House Committee to defend the project’s proposed budget and highlight planned interventions aimed at strengthening environmental management and climate resilience across the state.

The budget defence was chaired by the Chairman of the Katsina State House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation, Hon. Lawal H. Haro.
Haro expressed satisfaction with the presentations and commended the participating ministries, departments and agencies for their cooperation and active participation in the budget defence exercise.

He emphasised the importance of transparency and accountability in the budget preparation and implementation process, noting that effective scrutiny of proposed expenditures would contribute to responsible management of public resources.
The exercise provided an opportunity for the Assembly Committee to review the proposed allocations and programmes of the Ministry of Environment and ACReSAL ahead of the 2027 fiscal year.
