The attention of Ambassador Ibrahim Waiya, Executive Director of Citizens for Development and Education (CDE), has been drawn to a misleading press release circulating on social media platforms.
In a statement signed by the media aide to Ambassador Waiya Bashir A. Bashir and made available to newsmen.
The statement explained that, the release, allegedly signed by Alhaji Hamisu Isa Sherifai, claims that the Kano Civil Society Forum (KCSF) Board of Trustees (BOT) has suspended Ambassador Waiya from membership.
“We wish to categorically state that the BOT has no powers to suspend or dismiss any bonafide member of KCSF without due process”
“KCSF constitution Is clear on this matter, and we will not be intimidated by any attempts to subvert it”
Ambassador Waiya’s only “crime” was his objection to a flawed election process organized by the BOT, which lacked accountability, transparency, and inclusiveness.
“We believe that this objection was justified and necessary to uphold the integrity of the KCSF”
Waiya appealed to all members of KCSF, partners, and stakeholders to remain calm and disregard the misleading information being circulated.
“We assure you that Ambassador Waiya will continue to fight for justice and fairness in all his endeavors”
