The Deanery of Student Affairs at Bayero University Kano (BUK) has raised alarm over the unauthorized use of the University’s name and official logo on various social media platforms by fraudulent individuals.
In a statement signed by the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Mukhtar Ridwanu Bunza issued on behalf of the University, the Deanery expressed serious concern that such activities are aimed at misleading, deceiving, and exploiting students and prospective applicants.
To protect the integrity of the institution and safeguard members of the University community, the Deanery has prohibited the use of Bayero University Kano’s name, logo, or any official identity on any social media platform without prior written approval from the appropriate University authority.
The statement advised students, applicants, and the general public to rely solely on the University’s official website and verified social media handles for accurate and authentic information.
It further directed all individuals, groups, or associations currently using the University’s name and/or logo on social media platforms without authorization to immediately remove such identifiers.
Clarifying the directive, the University noted that while students and other users are free to operate personal social media accounts using their real or preferred names, any use of “Bayero University Kano,” “BUK,” or the University’s logo in a way that suggests official representation is strictly prohibited.
The Deanery warned that anyone found violating the directive would be sanctioned in accordance with the law and relevant University regulations.
