The Director General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, has received the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Mr. Charles Ebuebu, to explore areas of strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s media and technology sectors.
The meeting focused on advancing digital transformation and improving regulatory frameworks to keep pace with Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Both leaders emphasised the importance of inter-agency cooperation in promoting local media empowerment, facilitating knowledge transfer, preserving cultural values, and ensuring efficient, forward-looking regulation.
Speaking during the engagement, Abdullahi described digital transformation as a continuous and evolving process rather than a one-time initiative.
He stressed the need for sustained improvement across three key pillars—people, processes, and technology—to achieve meaningful and lasting impact.
He highlighted NITDA’s recent achievements, including a shift in organisational culture and mindset, significant reductions in bureaucratic bottlenecks, the implementation of Project NEXT, and proactive preparations for emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).
As part of efforts to deepen collaboration, the NITDA boss proposed several initiatives to support the NBC.
These include sharing NITDA’s digital transformation playbook, providing tailored training and capacity-building programmes, enrolling NBC staff in digital literacy initiatives developed in partnership with global technology firms such as Cisco, and offering technical support to modernise regulatory frameworks in line with the digital ecosystem.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both agencies expressing appreciation for the constructive discussions and reaffirming their commitment to strengthening collaboration for the overall advancement of Nigeria’s media and technology sectors.
