The Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic (HAFEDPOLY), Kazaure, Jigawa State, has secured approval from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to introduce additional National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes.

The approval is expected to expand the institution’s academic offerings, strengthen technical and vocational education, and equip students with practical skills for employment and self-reliance.
The Acting Rector, Dr Bashir Ahmad Danzomo, described the development as a significant milestone in the institution’s efforts to improve academic capacity and produce graduates who can contribute to national development.
Dr Danzomo commended the NBTE and its accreditation team for their role in the approval process, assuring that the polytechnic would maintain the required academic standards.
Similarly, the Council Chairman, Dr Jummai Kperoge, said the new programmes would enhance the institution’s academic profile and attract more students from across the country.

The approved National Diploma programmes include Mass Communication, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Public Administration, Business Administration, Accountancy-related disciplines, Fashion and Design, Polymer Technology, Library and Information Science, Banking and Finance, and Hospitality Management.
At the Higher National Diploma level, the approved programmes include Journalism and Media Studies, Library and Information Science, Polymer Technology, Fashion and Design, Statistics, Accountancy, Urban and Regional Planning, Civil Engineering, and Architectural Technology.
The NBTE has also approved National Diploma programmes in Public Health Technology, Community Health Technology, and Environmental Health Technology at the College of Health Sciences Technology.
In addition, the School of Agricultural Technology has secured approval to offer Animal Health Technology and Production Technology programmes, further expanding opportunities for students interested in agriculture and related fields.

The management said the development would strengthen skills acquisition and broaden access to technical education, while preparing graduates to meet labour market demands and pursue entrepreneurial opportunities.
The institution is expected to leverage the new approvals to expand its academic programmes and contribute to the development of skilled manpower in Jigawa State and beyond.
