The Association of Former Local Government Chairmen in Kano State, under the platform of the ALGON Integrity Group, has dismissed as false a report alleging that its members endorsed the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, as the preferred APC governorship candidate for 2027.
Chairman of the Association and former Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government, Hon. Hassan Garban Kauye Farawa, described the viral report as “misleading, baseless, and entirely fabricated.” He called on APC members within and outside Kano State to disregard the claim.
Farawa clarified that at the time the purported endorsement meeting was said to have taken place in Abuja, the former local government chairmen were actually in Kano attending their routine periodic meeting.
“It is surprising and frankly laughable that anyone would claim we held a meeting in Abuja while we were clearly in Kano,” he said.
He reaffirmed that the APC in Kano operates under a well-established leadership structure headed by former Governor and former APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje (Khadimul Islam), alongside other senior stakeholders.
According to him, only the recognized leadership of the party has the mandate to outline procedures for selecting candidates.
Farawa condemned attempts by individuals or groups to sow confusion within the party, warning that such actions are divisive and counterproductive as the 2027 general elections draw closer. He urged party members to remain united, focused, and committed to strengthening the APC.
This latest denial follows earlier disclaimers issued by former members of the Kano State House of Assembly and ex-commissioners who served under Dr. Ganduje, all of whom also refuted claims of endorsing Senator Barau for the 2027 governorship race.
