The Kano State Government, through the Kano State Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (KNCDC), has conducted a public health awareness campaign alongside the distribution of free medications to residents of Durmawa community in Tiga, Bebeji Local Government Area.
The outreach followed reports of suspected cases of an infectious disease believed to be Diphtheria in the community.
Speaking during the visit, the Director-General of KNCDC, Professor Muhammad Adamu Abbas, explained that the intervention was aimed at sensitising residents, identifying possible cases early, and providing immediate medical support where necessary.
He urged parents and caregivers to promptly take their children to the nearest health facility whenever they notice symptoms of illness, stressing that early medical attention is key to preventing complications and limiting the spread of infections.
Professor Abbas further assured residents that KNCDC remains fully prepared to respond swiftly to suspected disease outbreaks across the state, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to safeguarding public health.
