The Nigerian Railway Corporation has confirmed that a Kaduna–Abuja bound train was involved in an early morning accident that briefly disrupted operations and left some passengers with minor injuries.
According to the corporation, the incident caused temporary panic among passengers but was swiftly addressed by emergency responders.

In a statement signed by the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, Kayode Opeifa, preliminary findings revealed that the incident involved a rear locomotive and a passenger coach.
Opeifa explained that the rear locomotive made contact with the passenger coach, leading to a disconnection caused by a coupling fault.
He described the occurrence as unavoidable and assured the public that the corporation immediately activated its emergency response protocols.
Technical teams were promptly deployed to the scene to stabilise the situation, while passengers who sustained injuries were evacuated to nearby health facilities for medical attention.
NRC Restores Abuja-Kaduna Train Services After Monday Incident
Despite the disruption, the train later continued its journey and arrived at its destination at the Idu Railway Station in Abuja approximately 38 minutes behind its scheduled arrival time.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau has commenced an investigation to determine the exact cause of the incident.
