The Kebbi State Police Command has rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested one suspect following swift and coordinated operations in Kalgo and Dandi Local Government Areas of the state.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen in Birnin Kebbi, the state capital.
According to the statement, armed bandits on January 29, 2026, abducted one Alhaji Juli Muhammad, aged 55, from his residence in Kokani Village, Kalgo Local Government Area. The victim was reportedly restrained with chains and ropes before being taken into the bush by his abductors.
SP Usman said police operatives, acting on credible intelligence and working in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, swiftly mobilised and successfully rescued the victim unharmed.
He added that one suspect, identified as Umar Usman of the Augie Fadama area, was arrested in connection with the incident, while investigations are ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang.
In a similar development, the police on January 30, 2026, responded promptly to the abduction of one Garba Bachal from Maigwaza Village in Dandi Local Government Area. Operatives from the Kamba Division pursued the suspects, who later fled, abandoning the victim.
The rescued victim was subsequently taken to Maigwaza Hospital for medical attention and is currently recovering.
The police command noted that the successful operations underscore its intelligence-driven and proactive policing strategy, which prioritises rapid response, strategic collaboration, and the protection of lives and property. The command further assured residents that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the remaining suspects involved in the crimes.
