The Director of the Kano Dala Hard Courts Tennis Championship, Alhaji Yusuf Datti, has been elected Vice President of the Nigeria Tennis Federation (NTF) for a four-year term.
Datti, who previously emerged as the Northwest Zonal Representative on the federation’s board under the supervision of the National Sports Commission (NSC) during elections held in Kaduna last September, secured his new position in a keenly contested poll.

The election, conducted last Saturday at Package B of the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja, also saw the former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei, emerge as NTF President in a landslide victory.
Datti polled 12 out of 14 votes to clinch the Vice Presidency, while Ochei garnered 11 votes to emerge President.
Reacting to the outcome, Alhaji Yusuf Datti, who also serves as the Registrar of Khalifah Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), expressed deep appreciation to members of the federation for the confidence reposed in him and the newly elected executive.
He commended the leadership of the National Sports Commission, particularly its Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Dikko, and Director General, Mr. Olapade, for their unwavering commitment to the growth and development of sports across the country.

The newly elected Vice President also called on corporate organizations, philanthropists, and political leaders to collaborate with the NTF to further develop tennis and nurture young talents nationwide.
Datti further lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continued support and dedication to the promotion of sporting activities in Nigeria.
