Former Kano State Deputy Governor and governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 election, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has unveiled Mustapha Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as his running mate.
Mustapha, a former Kano State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, is the son of former Kano State Governor and national leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The announcement was made by the spokesperson for the Kwankwasiyya political movement, Habibu Saleh Me Lemo, in a brief statement shared on a WhatsApp group.
According to the statement, Gwarzo formally presented Mustapha as the party’s deputy governorship candidate ahead of the 2027 Kano State governorship election.
The development is expected to strengthen the NDC’s political structure in Kano, as the party positions itself for the forthcoming governorship contest.

Mustapha previously served in the Kano State Executive Council as Commissioner for Youth and Sports, where he supervised youth development and sports-related programmes in the state.
