The Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area, Dr. Mani Tsoho, has cautioned residents against the dangerous practice of self-medication, describing it as a serious health risk that could lead to life-threatening complications.
Dr. Tsoho issued the warning during an inspection visit to the Gwarzo General Hospital, where he interacted with patients, assessed the facility’s operations, and commended healthcare workers for their dedication.

He expressed concern that many community health crises stem from the misuse and abuse of drugs without professional guidance, urging residents to always consult qualified doctors and pharmacists before taking any medication.
“Our people must understand that self-medication is not treatment; it is a slow path to danger. Every drug should be taken under the guidance of a qualified medical practitioner,” Dr. Tsoho stressed.
The council chairman appealed to residents to report any signs of illness or discomfort promptly to the nearest hospital or healthcare center for timely medical attention.
He assured that qualified doctors and nurses are available across local facilities to provide effective and compassionate care.

“Peace and security are collective responsibilities. When we work together with security agencies, we make our communities safer for everyone,” he noted.
The chairman lauded the people of Gwarzo for maintaining peace, unity, and cooperation, encouraging them to continue supporting government programs that promote social welfare and development.
Dr. Tsoho also commended the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf (Abba Gida-Gida), for his continued investment in healthcare infrastructure, and pledged the council’s total support for the Governor’s vision of a healthier and more prosperous Kano State.
