The Kebbi State Government has pledged to support the families of 10 police officers and other victims killed by terrorists along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area of the state.
Governor Nasir Idris made the commitment when a delegation from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, led by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada, paid him a condolence visit at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.
Governor Idris condoled with the Nigeria Police Force and the families of the deceased officers, describing their deaths as a painful loss to the nation.
He said the officers lost their lives while carrying out their constitutional responsibilities, noting that they had been deployed to the area to support sister security agencies in the fight against terrorism and other forms of criminality.
The Governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies in the state and ensuring the protection of lives and property.
Earlier, DIG Umar Shehu Nadada conveyed the condolences of the Inspector-General of Police to the Governor, the people of Kebbi State and the families of the fallen officers.
He assured the Governor that the Nigeria Police Force would intensify efforts to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack and ensure that they are brought to justice.
The DIG also commended the Kebbi State Government for its continued support to the police and other security agencies operating in the state.
He disclosed that a police squadron would soon be established in Kebbi State as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and enhance the protection of lives and property.
The delegation visited Kebbi following the killing of the 10 police officers and other persons during a gun battle with terrorists along the Rafin Makuku axis of Sakaba Local Government Area.
