The Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, CHPRBN, has intensified its field monitoring and regulatory activities to ensure compliance with professional standards among practitioners providing child birth spacing services in Kano State.
The exercise, p was led by the Registrar/Chief Executive Officer of the Board, Prof. Bashir Idris (Lifidin Jama’a), as part of the Board’s statutory mandate to regulate the practice of Community Health Practitioners in Nigeria.

The monitoring team visited more than six health facilities and outreach centres where family planning services are provided under the Child Birth Spacing Project implemented by Marie Stopes International, MSI, Nigeria.
Facilities visited included Primary Health Centre Sharada, Jaoji Primary Health Centre, Kumbotso, Primary Health Centre Unguwa Uku, Primary Health Care Centre Madobi and Giginyu Primary Health Care Centre.
The team also participated in community outreaches in Rano town, including an outreach held at the palace of the District Head, Alhaji Adamu Bello, as well as locations at Layin Mai Unguwa, Jarkuka and other communities in Kano.
The exercise was aimed at assessing professional compliance, quality of service delivery and adherence to regulatory standards among Community Health Practitioners operating at the grassroots.

During the visits, Prof. Idris commended the leadership of MSI Nigeria for engaging and empowering Community Health Practitioners to provide child birth spacing services across the country.
He noted the importance of maintaining professional standards while expanding access to quality family planning services, particularly in underserved communities.
In recognition of the dedication and performance of practitioners involved in the programme, the Registrar/CEO announced a scholarship for one outstanding Community Health Extension Worker, CHEW, to pursue training as a Community Health Officer, CHO, in the next academic session.
Responding, the Regional Programme Manager of MSI Nigeria, Hajiya Suwaiba Abubakar, appreciated the CHPRBN leadership and monitoring team for their support and active participation in the exercise.

She said the collaboration would contribute to strengthening professional standards and improving access to family planning services across communities.
The monitoring exercise further underscored the importance of regulatory oversight, professional development and collaboration between government regulatory institutions and development partners in improving community-based healthcare delivery.
