78 athletes and 24 officials are to represent Nigeria in the forthcoming Federation of International University Sports (FISU) scheduled to hold in July this year in Germany.
The President of Nigeria University Game Association (NUGA) professor Bawa Muhammad who spoke through the chairman Technical committee, Professor Musa Garba Yakasai alias AA dropped this hints in a chat with newsmen shortly after the just concluded FISU trial tournament at University of Jos, Plateau state.

According to him, the FISU trial which commenced from April 6 to 12 attracted 19 universities and they competed in seven events which include Judo, badminton, table tennis, taekwondo, swimming among others.
The President explained that the selected 78 athletes were drawn from various universities based on their performance, assuring that with the calibre of the players picking at the trials, Nigeria will make impact at the championship in Germany.

He expressed appreciation to the leadership of Nigeria vice chancellors for their commitment and support to the executive officials of NUGA, urging them to sustain the tempo towards the overall development of various sporting activities in the country.
Professor Bawa Muhammad however, hinted that arrangements were in pipeline towards the successful hosting of this year’s NUGA in Jos, calling on stakeholders to rally round the NUGA and the hosting university towards a colourful and hitch-free games.
Meanwhile, the management of Northwest University Kano has applauded their athletes for a job well done at the just concluded Federation of International University Sports FISU trial in Jos.
The university’s Director of sports, Ahmad Surajo made the commendation shortly after some of his players won silver and bronze at the final of the games.
He described their performances as a sign of more success in the near future, charging them to redouble their efforts aimed at projecting the image of the university.
