The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has announced the successful rescue of a kidnap victim who was abducted earlier today from his residence in Ikot Abasi.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, disclosed this during a press briefing held at the State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia.
According to the Police Commissioner, the victim—whose name was withheld for security reasons—was kidnapped at around 2:00 a.m. on Monday.
The suspects were intercepted along a road in Southern Annang following rapid deployment of police operatives and swift coordination, which led to the victim being rescued unhurt.
“This rescue is a powerful reminder of what is possible when our security forces remain vigilant and committed to their duty,” CP Azare stated.
The operation was made possible through timely intelligence and the bravery of officers on the ground. The commissioner emphasized that the Akwa Ibom State Police Command remains resolute in its determination to combat criminality and uphold the rule of law.
During the operation, sever items were recovered from the suspects:
One Browning pistol
One short machete
One Peugeot 505 vehicle
One One single leg of slippers
One Murano car key
A pullover used to cover the victim’s face
One B1 sweater
In recognition of their heroic efforts, CP Azare announced that three officers would receive commendation awards for their role in the rescue operation:

CPL Ideba Eleng
PC Nsikak Vincent
“These officers have shown exemplary courage and professionalism in the line of duty. Their dedication to service and humanity is commendable,” the Commissioner said.
He further reassured residents of the state that the command will continue to intensify efforts to ensure the safety and protection of all citizens.
“Let it be known that crime will not prevail in Akwa Ibom State. We will continue to pursue justice for victims and ensure the safety of every citizen,” he added.
The police did not disclose the number of suspects arrested but confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
