Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have rescued the Administrative Secretary of Kibiya Local Government Area, Alhaji Hamza Durya, following his abduction in Kano State.
The victim was reportedly kidnapped at his residence in Durya village, located in Kibiya Local Government Area.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who said security agencies were immediately mobilised after the incident to secure the victim’s release and apprehend the perpetrators.
According to the statement, operatives of the DSS, Kano State Command, carried out a swift and coordinated operation that led to the successful rescue of the victim.
“In a swift and coordinated operation, operatives of the DSS, Kano State Command, successfully rescued the victim and arrested two suspected kidnappers who sustained bullet wounds during the operation,” the statement said.
The Kano State Government described the rescue as a significant breakthrough and commended security agencies for their professionalism and prompt response.
It noted that the success reflects the effectiveness of ongoing security strategies across the state’s 44 local government areas.
The government also acknowledged the support of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf in providing resources to enhance the operational capacity of security agencies.
Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining peace and security, the government urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to relevant authorities.
