The Deputy Governor of Kano State, Murtala Sule Garo, has officially resumed duties at his office in the Government House, Kano, on Wednesday, in a high-profile event attended by political leaders, lawmakers, and stakeholders across party lines.
Garo resumed office in the company of prominent figures including former governors Ibrahim Shekarau and Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, as well as former Deputy Governor Abdullahi T. Gwarzo and several members of the National Assembly.
Also present were the Chairman, House Committee on Appropriation, Abubakar Kabir Bichi; federal lawmakers representing Tudun Wada/Doguwa, Tsanyawa/Bagwai, and Gwarzo/Kabo constituencies; and Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Mariya Mahmoud Bunkure, among other political associates and local government figures.
Speaking shortly after resuming office, Garo expressed appreciation to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the confidence reposed in him, describing his appointment as a privilege and a responsibility he intends to discharge with dedication.
He also acknowledged the presence and support of APC leaders and elders who accompanied him to the Government House, noting that their counsel would guide his conduct in office.
“I have heard all your admonitions and suggestions. I assure you that, God willing, I will heed them and remain loyal and serve diligently under His Excellency, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf,” Garo said.
He further prayed for divine guidance in carrying out his responsibilities and appreciated stakeholders and supporters for their continuous encouragement.
Reaffirming the administration’s priorities, Garo highlighted Governor Yusuf’s “Kano First Agenda,” which focuses on education, healthcare, water supply, job creation, agriculture, and youth empowerment. He said the government remains committed to peace, stability, and economic development across the state.
Earlier in the event, former Governors Shekarau and Ganduje urged the Deputy Governor to remain patient, loyal, and focused, describing these values as essential for effective leadership. They also pledged their continued guidance and support.
The resumption marks a significant political gathering in Kano, bringing together key figures across different political backgrounds in a show of unity and support for the state administration.
