Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, has urged serving councillors across the state to intensify grassroots mobilisation in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Waiya made the call when he received the Kano State Councillors Forum Tinubu Abba Grassroots Movement, led by its Chairman, Councillor Kabiru Maraska Dala, during a courtesy visit to his office.
The Commissioner said councillors, because of their closeness to the people, occupy a strategic position in mobilising grassroots support and strengthening the party’s base across the state.
He commended the forum for its commitment to the political aspirations of Tinubu and Governor Abba, urging its members to remain committed and confident in expressing their support.
Waiya also encouraged the councillors to promote Governor Abba’s “Kano First” agenda, which he said was aimed at advancing the interests of the state and attracting further development support from the Federal Government.
He said the councillors could contribute to political success through grassroots mobilisation, publicity of government programmes and achievements, skills and other forms of support.
The Commissioner pledged the Ministry’s cooperation with the forum, particularly in providing support for effective communication of government policies, programmes and achievements to the people.
Earlier, the Chairman of the forum, Councillor Kabiru Maraska Dala, said the delegation visited the Commissioner to formally demonstrate its support for President Tinubu and Governor Abba and to work towards their re-election.
Dala, who represents Kantudu Ward in Dala Local Government Area, said the forum was satisfied with development projects being implemented by the Abba administration across the state.
He said the councillors would continue to explain and publicise the projects to residents to promote continuity and further development.
The chairman appealed to the Ministry of Information and Internal Affairs to provide the forum with necessary guidance and support in information dissemination and grassroots mobilisation.
