The Kano State House of Assembly has received three executive bills from the state government seeking to strengthen healthcare delivery and improve the management of health services across the state.
The bills were transmitted to the House by the Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, for consideration and legislative action.
They include the Kano State Drugs and Medical Supply Management Agency Amendment Bill 2026, the Kano State Primary Health Care Management Bill 2026, and the bill proposing the establishment of three independent health colleges in the state.
The bills were presented to the House during plenary, with the executive urging lawmakers to give them favourable consideration in line with the government’s commitment to strengthening governance and improving healthcare service delivery.
The governor, in his letter to the Speaker jibril Ismail Falgore, said copies of the proposed legislation had been attached for the guidance and consideration of members.
Meanwhile, the House standing Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has recommended the confirmation of Salihi Adamu as Secretary of Takai Local Government Council.
Presenting the committee’s report, the Chairman Aliyu Muhammad said the nominee was screened after the House received a communication from the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The committee said it scrutinised his curriculum vitae and conducted an oral interview before concluding that his appointment complied with the provisions of the Kano State Local Government Law 2006, as amended.
Salihi Adamu, born on May 1, 1970, holds a Certificate in Public Accounting and Audit.
The house unanimously adopted the resolution and confirmed Salihi as Secretary of Takai Local Government Council.
