Former Jigawa North East Senatorial aspirant, Muhammad Babandede, OFR, OCM, has reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress, APC, amid sustained pressure and overtures from various political parties seeking his support ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Babandede, a former Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, contested the APC senatorial primary for Jigawa North East.

However, following the party’s subsequent consensus arrangement, the senatorial tickets of the serving senators in the state were returned to them.
Despite the outcome, Babandede has continued to maintain his membership of the APC and expressed commitment to the party.
In a statement made available to newsmen, his Spokesperson and Media Aide, Muhammad Auwal Suleiman, said Babandede remains a loyal and proud member of the APC at the national, state and ward levels.
According to him, the growing interest from political parties and individuals across the country reflects the confidence, goodwill and respect Babandede enjoys across the political spectrum.
Suleiman said Babandede appreciates the confidence being shown in him but has no intention of abandoning the APC.
He described the former aspirant’s commitment to the ruling party as firm and unwavering.
The statement said Babandede respects the internal processes and decisions of the APC and remains committed to contributing his experience, knowledge and political goodwill to the growth of the party.
It added that he would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting the development of Jigawa State and Nigeria.

Suleiman therefore urged Babandede’s supporters, associates and the general public to disregard speculation suggesting that the former Immigration boss has decided to defect to another political party.
He maintained that Babandede remains firmly committed to the APC at all levels.
