The Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, has achieved about 60 percent implementation of its 2026 capital budget, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said.
Mr Wike disclosed this in Abuja while briefing journalists after inspecting some ongoing infrastructure projects across the Federal Capital Territory.

He attributed the pace of implementation to the release of funds, saying the initial delay in releasing the budget had affected payments to some contractors.
The Minister said the Administration was now implementing the budget steadily, with several major infrastructure projects scheduled for completion between December 2026 and January 2027.
Among the projects inspected was Arterial Road S1 in Kaura District, which is being constructed to link Ring Road II with Oladipo Diya Way, also known as Arterial Road S20.
Mr Wike said the contractor, Infiouest, had indicated that the road and associated works would be handed over by December 15.
He also inspected Collector Road C2 in Life Camp, being constructed by Julius Berger, and said the project was expected to be completed in December.
Another project inspected was Arterial Road N16 in Gwarimpa, which links Ring Road II with Ring Road III and passes through the Gwarimpa area towards Karsana.

The Minister said the contractor had given an assurance that the N16 project would be completed by the first week of January 2027, despite the challenging terrain and bridge works involved.
Mr Wike also inspected Jereton Mariere Street in Gudu District, as well as the ongoing remodelling and renovation of the IBB International Golf Course.
He said the golf course rehabilitation was being undertaken following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and that the facility was expected to reopen in November and host a tournament.
The Minister said the projects formed part of ongoing efforts to improve road connectivity and infrastructure within the Federal Capital Territory.
He said the completion of the projects within their projected timelines would contribute to improving transportation and access across different parts of Abuja.
On political comments surrounding infrastructure financing and the forthcoming 2027 elections, Mr Wike urged political aspirants to present their records, programmes and achievements to voters.

He also made a political assertion concerning support for former FCT Senator Philip Tanimu Aduda; that assertion is attributed to Mr Wike and is not presented here as an independently established fact.
The Minister said the FCT Administration would continue to monitor the projects and work with contractors to meet the agreed completion schedules.
