Member representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has reacted to his sudden expulsion from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), describing the decision as a “rude shock” and a violation of due process.
In a statement issued on August 6, 2025, Jibrin said he was surprised that the interview he granted in both English and Hausa, which expressed his candid views on party affairs, could attract such a heavy penalty.

“I strongly believe the contents of the interview should not warrant such a penalty because it is in tandem with the core principles of our party and movement, which allows for dissenting views. I stand by all the statements I made,” he said.
‘No Fair Hearing’
The lawmaker faulted the NNPP leadership for failing to give him an opportunity to defend himself before taking action.
“No invitation was extended to me to explain myself by any organ of the party. Even under military dictatorship, an accused is subjected to a court martial. Perhaps, if due process was followed, there may not have been a need for such a harsh decision to force me out of a party and family I love dearly,” he lamented.
Jibrin added that though he would have preferred to remain in the NNPP despite differences on some issues, he was obliged to accept the party’s decision “in good faith and without grudges.”
On Party Dues and Political Value
Responding to claims of non-payment of dues, Jibrin appealed to the party not to escalate the matter.
“I have never refused to pay my dues. If the party sends me an invoice, I will promptly pay,” he said.
He also criticised the party’s stance on political value, alleging that the NNPP has failed to accord members the respect they deserve.

“The party does not believe anybody has political value. No matter what you bring on board, you are treated as a nobody. I am grateful to Almighty Allah for whatever value I have and will invest it where it will be appreciated with dignity,” he added.
Future Plans
While thanking the party for the support he enjoyed during his time in NNPP, Jibrin said he was proud of his contributions, whether acknowledged or not.
He assured his supporters of guidance as he begins “a new political journey,” but stressed that he holds no grudges against those who choose to remain in NNPP.
“I will carefully weigh all the options before me as I decide on my next political home. So help me God,” he concluded.
