An inferno has razed several shops at the popular Kantin Kwari market Kano municipal local government area.
The inferno occured at about 7 pm at gidan Inuwa Mai Mai Bayajidda Street affected buildings at the middle of the market.

Speaking to newsmen the chairman Kantin Kwari traders market association Ambassador Balarabe Tatari explained that the fire was quenched by the federal fire service, Kano state fire service, private companies and reinforcement from Sabon gari, Dawanau and Singa markets.

He highlighted that, the DSS, Njgeria police force and other relevant authorities are on ground to provide security around the market.

Ambassador Balarabe decried over congestion and lack of access roads which he said was the major reason why the fire escalated before the arrival of the fire fighting vehicles.
He urged government to redouble efforts aimed at removing structures obstructing roads and drainages in the market.
