As part of efforts to ensure a violence-free Local Government election, Kano State Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs has organized a 3 -Day workshop aimed at creating awareness about pre and post-election violence.
The workshop held at Bala Dawakin Multi purpose Conference Hall behind Dawakin Kudu Local government secretariat, brought together stakeholders from various sectors, including security agencies, community leaders, and politicians, where strategies for the prevention of possible electoral violence and promoting peaceful elections were discussed giving opportunities for prompt solutions.
Speaking while declaring open the workshop the Deputy Governor Commarad Aminu Abdussaslam Gwarzo enjoined security agents to take proactive measures to ensure free, fare and credible elections across the 44 Local governments.
He also called on the participants to ensure regular attendance to contribute effectively towards the successful conduct of the upcoming elections.
The Deputy Governor further called on media organizations to strictly adhere to the rule of law and ensure accurate news reporting for the peaceful conduct of the elections.
In his welcome remarks, the president LAPEC, Dr. Yomi Charles appreciated the effort of the state government for organizing such timely event, calling on other states to emulate.
