The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested seven suspects in connection with alleged vandalism of public infrastructure and burglary of shops and residential houses across the state.
The State Commandant, Mr Mohammed Hassan-Agalama, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano.
According to him, two of the suspects, aged 19 and 20, were arrested shortly after allegedly vandalising armoured cables worth thousands of naira at Yan Shana community in Kumbotso Local Government Area.
He said the arrest was carried out with the assistance of members of a local vigilante group in the area.
The commandant added that two other suspects, aged 19 and 25, were apprehended along Madaki Street in Rano Local Government Area for allegedly vandalising aluminium conductor cables.
Mr Hassan-Agalama further disclosed that operatives of the command had dismantled a burglary syndicate that had been terrorising residents of Danhassan community in Kura Local Government Area.
He said three suspects, aged between 22 and 25, all residents of Danhassan, Kura LGA, were arrested in connection with the burglary incidents.
According to him, preliminary investigations and confessional statements revealed that no fewer than seven shops were burgled by the suspects, with valuables belonging to residents carted away.
The commandant noted that all the suspects were cooperating with investigators and would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
